São Pedro do Sul pede para integrar projeto-piloto de controlo de javalis

The municipality of São Pedro do Sul has formally asked Agriculture and Sea Minister José Manuel Fernandes to include it in the government's pilot project to control wild boar populations. The council argues it already meets the conditions, having supported 14 hunting associations in 2026 with grants of 500 to 3,000 euros each for hunting activities and habitat management. It wants to formalise this support permanently and combine it with a future national incentive per boar culled, and has requested a working meeting with the ministry and ICNF to learn the selection criteria for participating territories.
