Reforestation volunteer day – acorn sowing
Join a reforestation action sowing black oak acorns in an area recovering from wildfire in Serra da Estrela. Volunteers help with sowing native species; a shepherd's picnic lunch with farm produce is offered. Meeting point near Senhora da Assedasse; sign-up required in advance.
About the project
On a 100-hectare former farm in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, Reserva do Vale Velho combines organic farming, rewilding and archaeology to restore the land and preserve its culture. The young couple who run it are committed to reforestation, recovering biodiversity and safeguarding local heritage and ancestral knowledge.
