Eco café, sustainable shop and community space in Silves

O Cais is an eco café, sustainable shop and community space in a 1765 building beside the old Roman bridge over the Rio Arade in Silves. Everything on the menu is vegan or vegetarian, made with organic, locally sourced ingredients. The eco shop sells handcrafted products, local art and ethically sourced goods, chosen to support local makers. O Cais follows circular-economy principles, choosing second-hand where it can, and works directly with local farmers and producers. Open mic and jam sessions, film nights and cultural gatherings make it a meeting point for Silves and for everyone passing through.

Healing Circle Sanctuary

Retreat and intentional community in the hills of Silves

Healing Circle Sanctuary is a retreat and intentional community near Franqueira, in the hills of Silves, among carob, orange, mango and olive trees. It brings community living, healing, creativity, eco-building and sustainable living together in one place. Guests come for short or long stays and take part rather than simply visit: gardening, caring for the rescued animals that live on the land and joining creative projects. The sanctuary offers healing sessions, yoga and Ayurveda, kinesiology and massage therapy. Its guiding idea is the circle, a symbol of wholeness and interconnection that shapes everything from the relationships between residents to the care of the land.
