Volunteer day: water retention structures and reforestation
EcoAtivo regularly calls for volunteers to join hands-on field days building water retention structures (log barriers along contour lines) and, in a later phase, planting native species in fire-affected pine forest in Cova da Beira, working alongside the Water Guardians of Cova da Beira.
About the project
EcoAtivo is a Portuguese nature protection and conservation association based in Fundão that works to improve the relationship between humans and the environment through regenerative ecology, environmental education, and technology-assisted ecosystem monitoring. The association runs multiple projects spanning syntropic agriculture, invasive species control, forest monitoring, and environmental education in the Serra da Estrela region.
