Call for Artists: Sculpture for Rewilding Villages
Rewilding Portugal is looking for an artist or team of artists to create a large-scale sculpture for Vilar Maior, the first Rewilding Village of the Greater Côa Valley. The piece must be inspired by an emblematic species of rewilding fauna or flora in Portugal and/or the Greater Côa Valley, using natural, reused or sustainable materials. Open to artists of legal age, national or foreign. Includes a grant of €2,500 + VAT, plus accommodation and meals. Applications open from 12 August to 12 September 2026.
About the project
Rewilding Portugal is a non-profit association working to make Portugal a wilder place by restoring ecosystems and wildlife corridors, with its main focus on the Greater Côa Valley. Its key efforts include scaling up rewilding across a 120,000-hectare wildlife corridor and the LIFE Wolflux project, which improves habitat connectivity for wolves south of the Douro River.
