Almost €6m to upgrade Lis river basin sewage network
Águas do Centro Litoral is investing nearly €6 million to make sewage infrastructure in the Lis river basin more resilient, following an August 2025 incident in which a pumping station failure discharged untreated sewage into the river. The plan includes renewing equipment such as pumps, generators, valves and electrical panels, plus automation for better monitoring. Announced at the final meeting of a monitoring committee set up after the incident, the session also agreed to create a working group on the Lis and to press the environment agency APA for a river water quality monitoring system and bank maintenance work.
