Beja launches project to organise farm labour recruitment
The Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Beja presented LIMA Alentejo, a project running until December 2027 that aims to connect farms with workers, directly involving 500 migrants. It brings together nine agricultural, social, business and municipal organisations under the Gulbenkian Integration Initiative. Central to the plan is a digital platform matching labour supply and demand, alongside 250 hours of training through a Field School covering agricultural techniques, Portuguese language, workplace safety and labour rights. Workers will also receive social support, legal guidance and help integrating into the region.
