E-REDES treated 130 km of power lines for bird safety and plans drone-fitted markers
Under the LIFE PowerLines4Birds project, run with environmental groups Quercus, SPEA and LPN and the nature conservation institute ICNF, E-REDES had worked on 49 line sections covering 130 km by December 2025, including insulating 730 pylons against electrocution. Another 32 sections spanning 85 km are planned for 2026, with about 300 more pylons insulated and roughly 11 km of critical lines buried. A pilot using drones to fit anti-collision markers succeeded, and a tender is under way to extend it. Citizens can now report bird incidents through the company's online portal, and work will continue after the project ends.
