Leiria water utility completes €1.6m pipeline linking Coimbrão reservoirs

The Leiria municipal water services (SMAS) have finished building a new 12.8km water pipeline connecting the Monte Redondo, Praia do Pedrógão and Ervideira reservoirs, at a cost of around €1.6 million. The project replaces reliance on three separate water sources and strengthens supply to the Coimbrão parish. Works also included refurbishing the three reservoirs, building new control chambers, installing flow meters, emergency generators and upgraded remote-management systems. After cleaning, disinfection and quality testing between 24 August and 2 September, the system began operating on Thursday, 3 September.
