New Alto Minho civic movement draws 50 to Viana do Castelo housing gathering

More than 50 people gathered in Viana do Castelo's Praça da República for the first public sessions of ManifestAM, a newly formed non-partisan civic movement in Alto Minho. The afternoon combined a popular assembly, testimonies, live music and children's workshops making protest posters. The group presented a manifesto of housing demands and used the event to prepare a march planned for 14 November, in step with the Porto and Lisbon tent protests. That day it will coordinate with a demonstration for the National Health Service in the same city. Organisers said they feel no need to pitch tents in the square for now.
