Quercus says 2027 State Budget underfunds forests, climate adaptation and green taxation
Environmental group Quercus has sent Parliament its proposals for the 2027 State Budget, arguing that spending on forest protection, sustainable farming, environmental education and biodiversity is too low or too vague. Forests and natural resources get only 8% of the 1,647 million euro Agriculture and Sea budget, and adaptation takes just 17% of green spending against 83% for mitigation. It also faults the lack of waste-prevention targets and of environmental safeguards for renewables and biomethane. Quercus wants the points raised when the Environment and Energy Minister appears before MPs on 3 November.
