Smart Waste Portugal launches working group on circular construction

Smart Waste Portugal has created a "Construção Circular" working group to bring together companies, public bodies and academia to boost circular economy practices in the construction sector. Its first session, held on 22 September, gathered over 20 stakeholders to discuss key challenges and opportunities. Construction and demolition waste accounts for about 30% of Portugal's total waste, yet only 40% is reused or recycled. The group will meet quarterly, form thematic task-forces on issues like recycled materials, ecodesign and selective demolition, and produce guides and policy recommendations.
