Nutrition and sustainable diets in Portugal

The Mediterranean diet is Portuguese heritage listed by UNESCO and is also, for a lot of households, no longer what is actually eaten. The projects here work at that gap, from the crop end rather than from the leaflet end.

Salina Greens grows certified organic halophytes near Alcochete, salicornia and other salt-tolerant plants that need no fresh water and can replace salt on the plate. Âmago Wellness Farm runs a small regenerative dairy in the Azores, and Gaia Forest Retreat cooks from the oak forest near Paredes de Coura.

If you work on food and nutrition from this end in Portugal, we would like to list it. See also plant-based eating, local and seasonal produce and herbalism. Dated activities from these projects are listed in our events calendar.
