Community chestnut harvest volunteers
The association invites people to join community chestnut-gathering sessions in Figueiró da Serra, bringing buckets and gloves to help with the harvest. Remaining session: Saturday 17 October, 10 am, meeting at Cimo do Lugar by the village fountain.
About the project
Veredas da Estrela is a community association founded after the 2022 wildfires destroyed 25% of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park. It works to restore ecosystems and build fire-resilient villages in Figueiró da Serra and Freixo da Serra. The association organises community actions, trail restoration and events such as the Chocalhos Trail to connect people with the mountain and its regeneration.
