€1.4 million cross-border project to boost Guadiana river tourism

A €1,471,561.40 project called Guadiana Nautic Experience aims to develop nautical tourism in the Lower Guadiana region, focusing on small local businesses and underused resources. It brings together partners from Portugal and Spain for the first time under the Interreg Spain-Portugal cross-border cooperation programme, including the Algarve Tourism Region, Huelva's destination agency, the Eurocidade do Guadiana and Beturia. Running until the end of 2028, activities include a strategic map, pilot projects, sector training and a Nautical Congress, aiming to diversify tourism, support local communities and create jobs beyond the high season.
