ACP gathers 20,000 signatures for Lisbon e-scooter referendum

The Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP) has collected 20,000 signatures from registered Lisbon voters to push for a municipal referendum on the future of shared electric scooters in the city, far exceeding the 5,000 required. The initiative now goes to the Lisbon Municipal Assembly, which must review its legality and vote on whether to hold the referendum, followed by a constitutionality check by the Constitutional Court. ACP says the roughly 6,000 scooters circulating in Lisbon raise concerns over road safety, pedestrian accessibility and use of public space, and wants residents to decide the city's mobility model directly.
