ADN party seeks details on cement waste spill in Porto Santo

The ADN Madeira party has formally requested clarification from Águas e Resíduos da Madeira (ARM) over a 21 August incident at Praia da Fontinha, Porto Santo, where water carrying cement waste reached the sea, forcing a temporary bathing ban. ARM has acknowledged a failure in its filtering system during works on a water intake gallery for a desalination unit, stating there was no biological contamination. ADN is not alleging wrongdoing but wants technical details: what failed, how long the discharge lasted, its extent, whether water and sand samples were analysed, and what safety criteria and corrective measures will apply.
