Algarve showcases oyster shell, reed and clay as new building and design materials
The Algarve regional development commission (CCDR) will present, on 22 October at its Faro auditorium, products created from four local resources: reed, oyster shell, clay linked to the region's traditional drying sheds, and rammed earth. They emerged from creative residencies that brought together producers, designers, architects and researchers, aiming to find uses in architecture, design and sustainable construction that blend traditional know-how with innovation. A round table will then discuss commercial viability, public procurement and turning waste into raw material. The free session runs from 14:30 to 18:00, is limited to 90 people, and registration closes on 19 October.
