Cabanas de Tavira beach named among world's cleanest

Praia de Cabanas de Tavira, on an island within the Ria Formosa Natural Park in the Algarve, has been named one of the world's cleanest beaches in 2025 by property portal Idealista, citing its environmental quality and protected setting. The seven-kilometre beach holds the Blue Flag award again this year and is only reachable by a boat crossing of under five minutes from the village. Local conservation efforts, including anti-plastic campaigns and environmental education by municipal company Taviraverde, support its upkeep. Boat access and seasonal facilities such as bars and lifeguards operate only from April to October.
