Cacela Velha to host barter market without money

On 18 October, from 3pm to 7pm, Cacela Velha will host a Mercado de Trocas, an event encouraging residents to exchange goods, knowledge or services directly, without using money, as was common in the past. People wanting to set up a stall must register in advance by 15 October, detailing what they offer and seek; visitors can also bring items for direct swaps on the day. The initiative, organised by Vila Real de Santo António council together with CIIPC and ADRIP, aims to promote a solidarity economy and encourage reflection on consumer society.
