Central Alentejo collects over half a tonne of used batteries

Since 15 May, five municipalities in the Central Alentejo Municipalities Association (AMCAL) have collected 580 kilograms of used batteries, the association announced. The collection was carried out by ERP Portugal, which manages waste from electrical and electronic equipment and batteries, as part of a joint initiative between the two bodies. Portel and Vidigueira led with 140 kilograms each, followed by Viana do Alentejo, Cuba and Alvito. The scheme aims to bring selective collection closer to residents' daily routines, making it easier to dispose of used batteries correctly.
