CIRES cogeneration plant in Estarreja marks 8 years, adds new heat recovery unit

CIRES has operated a natural gas turbine cogeneration plant at its Estarreja PVC facility for over eight years, generating electricity and heat with high energy efficiency. Energest designed and built the plant's recovery boiler and balance-of-plant equipment, a project started in 2012 and completed in March 2018. The system can produce 35 tonnes/hour of steam in post-combustion mode. Energest has now added a third heat recovery economiser to further boost the plant's overall energy efficiency, continuing an ongoing improvement strategy.
