Coimbra region joins full intermodal transport ticket on 1 October

The Coimbra Intermunicipal Community (CIMRC) announced that intermunicipal buses run by Busway and national rail operator CP will join the region's intermodal ticket system from 1 October. The agreement, approved by the intermunicipal council, extends the existing intermodal pass already used by Coimbra's urban transport service (SMTUC) and Metro Mondego. CP will receive up to 100,000 euros by year-end to offset potential revenue loss. Monthly tickets cost 30 to 40 euros depending on coverage, with discounts for groups such as students. Top-ups begin 25 September, and officials also approved a study into shared bicycles and micromobility.
