Ten Beja district councils to get tractors for wildfire prevention
The nature conservation institute, ICNF, will supply one tractor to each of ten councils in the Beja district, to help them clear vegetation and lower the risk of rural fires. The protocols were signed in Santiago do Cacém. The councils are Aljustrel, Almodôvar, Barrancos, Castro Verde, Cuba, Ferreira do Alentejo, Mértola, Ourique, Serpa and Vidigueira. They form part of a national scheme of 150 tractors, worth close to 27.5 million euros and paid for by the Recovery and Resilience Plan. Delivery dates and the machines' specifications have not yet been made public.
