EDP Foundation study finds young Portuguese willing to act, but constrained by cost
A study by the EDP Foundation with The Equator Company, "Perceções dos Jovens Portugueses sobre Alterações Climáticas e Sustentabilidade", found 80% of young Portuguese people willing to change behaviour on climate issues, but held back by economic barriers: 48% cite the cost of living and 46% the price of sustainable solutions. In an interview, Vanda Martins, the foundation's director of Social Innovation, says awareness campaigns alone are not enough and calls for stronger energy literacy, practical tools and real opportunities to participate. The study also shows young people reject alarmist or moralising climate messaging, prefer solution-focused communication, and place government and international bodies ahead of individuals in responsibility for climate action.
