Environmental group urges Portugal to revise nature restoration plan

The environmental association Zero has called on Portugal to revise its National Nature Restoration Plan before submitting it to Brussels in September, warning that approving it as it stands would undermine it from the start. Zero proposes six changes, including annual execution reports, localised rather than vague measures, a clear responsible authority, and multi-year budget commitments. It notes that 58% of the plan's 406 measures lack defined locations, none has an assigned cost or responsible body, and only €168.7 million of the promised €500 million annually has been identified. The plan is open for public consultation until 19 August.
