EU agency reviews two years of Montagu's harrier conservation work in Beja and Castro Verde
The second official monitoring visit of the LIFE SOS Pygargus project took place in Beja on 15 and 16 September, two years after the project began. Organised by partner EDIA and commissioned by the EU's CINEA agency, it assessed progress on the ground, the technical results, the financial execution and the main challenges. Participants then visited Castro Verde, where the LPN runs an acclimatisation station used to reinforce the population of Montagu's harrier, and saw one of the largest colonies in Portuguese cereal farmland. The conclusions will feed the project's first interim report and shape the actions planned for the coming years.
