Floresta Comum opens applications for 75,000 native plants

The Floresta Comum project has opened applications for the 16th edition of its National Native Forest Species Fund, offering over 75,000 plants from 39 species to support reforestation, biodiversity conservation, environmental education and urban parks across Portugal. Entities managing public or communal land can apply until 30 September 2026. The initiative, a partnership between Quercus, ICNF, ANMP and UTAD, promotes native species such as oaks and cork oaks, citing benefits including drought resilience, pest resistance and greater protection against wildfires. It is partly funded by Green Cork and sponsored by REN.
