Free doorstep collection of large electronic waste starts in five Alentejo municipalities

ERP Portugal, a waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) compliance scheme, and the Association of Municipalities of Central Alentejo (AMCAL) have signed a protocol for a free doorstep collection service. It covers Portel, Vidigueira, Viana do Alentejo, Cuba and Alvito, and targets bulky items such as fridges and washing machines, which many residents struggle to transport. The partners want to raise separate collection in the region, steer more equipment towards treatment and recovery, and cut the dumping of appliances beside containers or in unsuitable places.
