Goparity opens crowdfunding to replant 50 hectares of burnt land in northern Spain
Impact investment platform Goparity has opened a campaign to raise 500,000 euros for Asturias-based Bosquia Nature, which will replant 50 hectares with native species in fire-hit regions of Asturias, Galicia and Castilla y León. More than 126,000 euros has come from 883 community members so far. Investors are to be repaid from carbon credits sold to companies, plus fees for services Bosquia provides to organisations. The project is expected to save about 300 tonnes of CO₂ a year and create seven local jobs for site preparation and three permanent ones for upkeep. It follows a year in which Portugal and Spain accounted for 43% of the EU's burnt area.
