INDAQUA solar array atop Matosinhos reservoir starts supplying network

INDAQUA Matosinhos has switched on its first energy community, with 473 solar panels installed atop the Custóias water reservoir over roughly 2,100 m², built and operated by Iberdrola. The plant will supply other INDAQUA infrastructure within a four-kilometre radius and is expected to generate 400 MWh a year, enough for about 100 homes, avoiding 49 tonnes of CO2 annually. The company now has around 1,700 solar panels in the municipality, raising its energy self-sufficiency to 42%, up from 36.4% in 2025. INDAQUA also runs a similar energy community in Oliveira de Azeméis.
