Leiria shopping centre calls volunteers to clear invasive plants from Marrazes forest

Topicsnative and invasive species management

Volunteers are invited to a free clearing day in the Mata Nacional dos Marrazes in Leiria on Sunday 18 October, starting at 9:30am. The LeiriaShopping centre is organising it as the second phase of a social and environmental campaign launched after storm Kristin, following an earlier round of financial support for local institutions. The forestry firm 2BForest provides technical and scientific guidance. Removing invasive exotic species frees space and resources for native ones and improves the survival of trees planted later. Registration is required through the centre's app, and participants meet on Estrada do Campo de Tiro.
