Lisbon university launches platform for water challenges

The University of Lisbon has launched the Colégio da Água, an interdisciplinary platform tackling water scarcity, climate adaptation, pollution and sustainable management. The initiative is part of the WISE project, backed by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation with 900,000 euros of funding until 2029. It will bring together researchers, students, companies, public bodies and civil society across the university's schools, focusing on proof-of-concept testing, incubating water-sector startups, and training programmes. The platform draws on fields such as artificial intelligence, smart water management and robotics, and aligns with national and EU water strategies.
