Loulé turns parking spaces into public event for Car-Free Day

On 22 September, Loulé's Praça da República swapped car parking spaces for community activities as part of Park(ing) Day, held during European Mobility Week. Events included sports, traditional games, environmental awareness sessions, immersive cinema and a barter market, alongside a GNR road safety course for children. Municipal companies and local associations took part, presenting projects on mobility and sustainability. The programme also introduced VELA, Loulé's future bike-sharing system, due to launch in 2027, offering an alternative for daily local travel.
