Melgaço opens tender to fight invasive species in Peneda-Gerês

The Melgaço town council has launched a public tender worth around 300,000 euros to improve the conservation of natural habitats and combat invasive species in the Peneda-Gerês National Park. Published in the Diário da República, the notice sets a deadline of 12 September for proposals, with the contract to run for 10 months in the parish union of Vila e Roussas. Peneda-Gerês, Portugal's only national park, spans 70,290 hectares across three districts and, together with a neighbouring Spanish park, forms part of a UNESCO biosphere reserve since 2009.
