Ocean literacy books reach 136 Azores schools

Between May and June, the Blue Azores programme, with the DREAE and Lisbon's Oceanário, delivered the "Patrulha Ação Azul" book collection in 150 sessions across 136 schools in the Azores. The four-book series, part of the National Reading Plan and endorsed by UNESCO, aims to teach ocean literacy to primary pupils. São Miguel had the most sessions, reaching 5,483 students, followed by Terceira. Over 400 primary teachers have already received certified training, and two new training rounds open in July and September for teachers wanting to integrate ocean themes into lessons.
