Ponte de Lima repairs 13.5km of forest tracks after the Monte da Nó wildfire

Topicswildfire prevention

Ponte de Lima council is upgrading about 13.5km of forest road network on the Monte da Nó, under a programme contract with the Environmental Fund and the national forestry and nature conservation institute (ICNF). The works cover land in five parishes affected by the rural fire of July 2025, which burned 931.70 hectares. Because of the damage, ICNF drew up an emergency stabilisation report, and the most urgent actions it identified, notably repairing and treating the forest roads, were funded. The total investment is €26,678.77 plus VAT, and the works are due to finish by the end of October.
