Porto Moniz council holds seabed clean-up at harbour

The Porto Moniz municipal council held another edition of its "Porto Moniz Sorridente" initiative, cleaning the seabed at the town's Porto de Abrigo. The action, part of celebrations marking 40 years of the Blue Flag, involved the GNR, the Regional Directorate for Environment and Climate Action, local firefighters, Sanas Madeira, the Madeira Aquarium, the Clube Naval do Seixal and local businesses, alongside primary school pupils who helped remove waste from the surrounding area. Mayor Olavo Câmara said the sea is one of the council's main assets and that protecting it is a priority tied to the local economy and future generations.
