Portugal imported Russian LNG again in 2025, ERSE reports

Russia supplied 7% of the LNG unloaded at the Sines terminal in 2025, according to Portugal's energy regulator ERSE, with three tankers delivering 3.3 TWh, unchanged from 2024. Nigeria and the United States accounted for the rest, at 50% and 43% respectively. Sines handled 95% of the gas entering Portugal, with the remainder arriving via pipeline interconnections with Spain. Portugal aims to end Russian LNG imports by early 2027 under EU rules; Spanish firm Naturgy holds the only long-term contract still bringing Russian gas through Sines.
