Portugal launches funding scheme for zero-emission buses in Alentejo Litoral

Portugal's government has published a scheme offering up to €4.5 million per beneficiary to fund electric or hydrogen buses for public transport in the Alentejo Litoral region. Financed through the Just Transition Fund under the Alentejo 2030 Regional Programme, it also covers charging or refuelling infrastructure, capped at 20% of eligible costs. Municipalities, the Alentejo Litoral intermunicipal community and transport operators serving the area can apply, with co-financing reaching up to 100%. The buses must be zero-emission, accessible to people with reduced mobility, and used exclusively for public passenger services. Funding will depend on future calls for applications.
