Rehabilitated white storks released back into Estarreja wetlands

BioRia in Estarreja is hosting the release of white storks rehabilitated at Gaia's Parque Biológico, in partnership with the Institute for Nature and Forest Conservation. Young storks often fall from nests or get injured while learning to fly, and a recent heatwave has increased the number of birds needing treatment. The birds will be released at the Baixo Vouga Lagunar, valued for its rich ecosystems. About a hundred children from the municipal 'Férias Ativas' programme will attend, learning about the species and wildlife conservation work.
