Sagres bird festival returns in October, featuring the razorbill

The Bird Watching and Nature Activities Festival returns to Sagres for its 17th edition, running from 2 to 5 October. Organised by Vila do Bispo Council with SPEA-BirdLife and Associação Almargem, this year's edition highlights the razorbill, a seabird passing through Portuguese waters in autumn and winter. The species breeds only in the North Atlantic and migrates along the Portuguese coast from October, making it a prime sighting for visitors. The event, held annually since 2008, includes bird ringing, field and boat trips, courses, photography workshops and talks. The full programme will be released on 5 August, with registrations opening on 2 September.
