Silves dedicates World Tourism Day 2026 events to carob

Silves's Fábrica do Inglês opens a photography exhibition on carob, «Alfarroba: Memória(s) de uma Vida» by Luísa Melão, on 26 September, launching the municipality's 2026 World Tourism Day programme. Entry is free and the show runs until the end of October. Events include a round table on the carob industry, a guided tour, a blind tasting and Portuguese guitar music. On 27 September, World Tourism Day itself, the «Trilhos da Alfarroba» trail takes visitors to producers and processing units around the county; registration closes 20 September. The programme continues with workshops and a creative atelier through December.
