Six detained in Matosinhos over illegal hunting in protected area

The GNR detained six men, aged between 26 and 62, on Sunday in Matosinhos after catching them hunting in a protected area not authorised for hunting. The operation, part of an environmental enforcement action, led to the seizure of six 12-gauge hunting weapons, hunting licences, weapon registration booklets and dozens of rounds of ammunition. The suspects were charged and referred to the public prosecution departments in Maia and Vila do Conde, where they must appear. The GNR stressed that hunting outside permitted areas endangers biodiversity and public safety.
