Soure awards contract to clean Arunca river after storm damage

The Soure municipal council has awarded a contract to Biopower for the regularisation, clearing and cleaning of the Arunca river, between Soure Urbano and Vila Nova de Anços, after damage caused by storm Kristin in January. The direct-award contract is worth €575,254 plus VAT, with a 90-day execution period, published on the Base public procurement portal. Deputy mayor Teresa Pedrosa said the work stems from a programme-contract with the Ministry of Environment following flooding in January and February, and will involve removing wood from the riverbed, cleaning banks and improving the ecosystem to prevent future flood risk.
