Trás-os-Montes launches digital tool to guide wildfire prevention

The Terras de Trás-os-Montes intermunicipal community (CIM-TTM) has developed a digital tool that combines rural property registry data with wildfire risk information to support fire prevention decisions. Built between March and May, it merges BUPi ownership records with data on fuel management strips, priority intervention areas and burnt zones. Now being rolled out to technical staff in the nine member municipalities, it helps identify high-risk land, locate owners and prioritise clean-up efforts. The wider project, covering all nine councils, has a budget of around one million euros.
