Underground miners' lunch in Loulé salt mine wins Algarve tourism innovation prize
A project that serves a Mediterranean-diet meal some 230 metres below ground in Loulé's rock-salt mine has won the tourism and geological resources category of the Inova Algarve + Diversificar competition, with a €2,500 award. Called the Underground Miners' Lunch, it was developed by Tech Salt with a Mediterranean diet association and pairs a guided tour of the mining heritage with a meal recreating the communal breaks of former mine workers. The prize was presented on 20 October at a geological resources conference hosted by the regional business association NERA. The conference series continues on 5 November with a session on citrus fruit.
