Volunteers collect one tonne of waste in Esposende woodland

About 30 volunteers removed roughly one tonne of natural waste on Saturday from the Mata de Folhosas, a distinctive area of the Parque Natural do Litoral Norte between Fão and Apúlia. The site includes farmland, traditional masseiras, pilgrim paths, lagoons and wetlands important for biodiversity and rainwater drainage. Park authorities say the area has suffered from illegal dumping of waste and discarded objects. The clean-up was organised by the park's Rede de Guardiãs da Natureza, with support from the Fão parish council and technical guidance from the ICNF.
