Environmental Waves
Environmental Waves is a Portuguese company specialising in innovative water, wastewater, and air treatment solutions, with a focus on susta…
Salema Eco Camp and Várzea da Gonçala reuse water on site, while Environmental Waves works on treatment technology. Greywater systems put water from everyday use back to work.
Water from the shower, the sink and the washing machine is barely dirty and, on a property with a garden, it is the difference between irrigating in August and not. Keeping it separate from the toilet is the whole trick.
Várzea da Gonçala runs greywater into planted beds on a permaculture smallholding near Aljezur. Folha Verde does the same at community scale in the Serra do Açor. Salema Eco Camp built it into a coastal campsite, Ecodepur and Environmental Waves supply the engineered versions, and Oásis Biosistema designs the planted ones.
Soap choice matters more than people expect: what goes down the drain goes onto the garden. See also natural water purification, compost toilets and water conservation. Dated activities from these projects are listed in our events calendar.
