Rainwater harvesting in Portugal
The rain that falls here is not scarce so much as badly timed and badly held: it arrives hard, on ground baked shut by summer, and runs off before it can soak in. Harvesting is as much about slowing water down as about storing it.
Tamera built a chain of retention lakes near Odemira. Ekogaio designs keyline and swale systems out of Tomar and Slow Water Earth does the same at landscape scale. Aldeia do Vale, Monte do Aniche and Folha Verde run tank-and-swale systems sized for a five-month dry season, and Environmental Waves supplies the technical side.
